Birmingham City University Students and Staff

As a member of staff or a student at Birmingham City University, you become a member of the library automatically when your University ID card is printed and you are entitled to use any of the University's libraries.  You will receive a library PIN to your University email account.  Please note that there is a short delay after your card is printed before becoming active on the system.  Staff will need to complete a registration card on their first visit. 


As an alumni of BCU you can join the library for an annual fee of £35. Membership entitles you to borrow a maximum of 4 library items at a time. Click here for more information and to apply to BCU.

Non-BCU Students and Staff

If you're a student or member of staff at another Higher Education institution, you may be able to join us through the SCONUL Access scheme. You can apply for authorisation on the SCONUL Access website. If successful you'll receive an authorising email.  Once you have received SCONUL authorisation you can apply for External Membership of BCU.  Click here to apply to BCU.

Other membership

If you are not eligible for SCONUL Access or alumni membership then you may visit our libraries 5 times in a year for free, for reference use only.
