Birmingham City University students:
You have full access to library services throughout the whole of your course. However your account automatically expires once you have finished your course. Any items you have on loan should be returned once you have completed your final assignment or taken your final exam. Once your account has expired you no longer have access to any physical or electronic library resources – any books still on loan cannot be renewed and will need to be returned.
If you believe that your account has wrongly expired and you still have assessments to complete, for example resits or a course extension, then we can extend your account using a form that must be completed by a relevant member of staff at your faculty. These forms can be collected from one of our library Help Desks.
External library users with borrowing rights:
You will be given a fixed amount of time to access library resources when you join. Usually this will be a year from the day that you register. Once this has expired you will immediately lose all access to the library – books cannot be renewed and will need to be returned.
If you wish to continue using our services then you will need to contact us during staffed hours to see what access schemes might be available.
External library users with reference access get 5 visits a year – you will need to reapply when your card expires.
