The main databases for textiles students are: 

  • Art Full Text Featuring full-text articles, indexing and abstracts from an array of publications. It covers a variety of topics from fine, decorative and commercial art to photography, folk art, film and architecture. (Best viewed using Chrome).
  • Bloomsbury Dress and Cosume Library Comprehensive online collection for the interdisciplinary study of dress and costume history, design and making, and offers an indispensable scholarly and educational resource to support the study of dress history, costume studies and costume design.
  • Common Objective Business database for the ethical and sustainable fashion industry from the Ethical Fashion Forum. Individual registration required, follow the registration guidance provided.
  • Design and Applied Arts Index Coverage includes fashion, textiles, interior design, theatre design, industrial design, ceramics, glass, jewellery and photography.
  • Drapers Online Online full-text access to Drapers plus supplementary news, commentary and features on fashion business, fashion companies and fashion retail. Individual registration required, follow the registration guidance provided.
  • Fashion Monitor Discover fashion contacts and influencers and keep up to date with the latest fashion news and events. Individual registration required, follow the registration guidance provided.
  • WGSN This fashion website contains downloadable images which may be used for teaching and learning purposes, as well as market and industry news, fashion retailing information and designer profiles. 

Company and market information is also available via the library databases. Use the database types filter on the  A-Z databases to find further information and links.
